The purpose and objective of Christian Academy Student Council is to develop leadership qualities in council members, while facilitating school activities and to act as a liaison between the students and faculty.
The Student Council looks to fulfill these purposes by sponsoring activities for the school at large, by supporting all Christian Academy activities, and by sponsoring Student Council activities. Student Council also promotes community service among students and staff.
Student Council members have opportunities to develop positive social skills, healthy friendships and a good work ethic. They also become more competent leaders and learn more respect for their parents, teachers, and other leaders.
Some Student Council Events from last year include:
- In September, Student Council sponsored "Penny Wars" and raised over $800 for ACSI sister schools that were affected by Hurricane Katrina.
- Christian Academy participated in a Student Exchange. Students from Williamsburg Academy came to our school to visit for a day. They attended class with us, and the Student Council sponsored a luncheon for our guests.
- Student Council sponsored a speaker for the middle and high school for Red Ribbon Week. The speaker encouraged the students to make wise choices.
- Student Council played an important role at the Fall Festival by taking up tickets and selling t-shirts.
- Student Council worked with Habitat for Humanity to stock the pantry of a new habitat home. They sponsored a "boys vs. girls" canned food drive contest to collect this food.
- Student Council sponsored "Christmas for Children Along the Gulf Coast" in December.
Christian Academy Spirit Day
Every Friday is CA Spirit Day. On this day, students can wear their CA T-shirts un-tucked and blue jeans, which are neat in appearance (no rips or tears), for all grade levels. This will be the only day CA T-shirts should be worn other than for appropriate field trips.
